WSET Level 4 - D5 Fortified Wines
With a focus on fortified wines, this session will explore the art, science, and business of wine. This includes emphasis on viticulture & winemaking process, as well as growing environment, varietal options, winemaking decisions, even industry associations and business decisions – all of which lead to style, level of quality, and pricing. In addition, students will learn to accurately taste and professionally evaluate these styles.
The Exam:
90-minute open-response theory paper.
Blind tasting of 3 fortified wines
Exams available every June and January (upcoming exam dates: Wednesday, June 12, 2024; 3:30pm to 5:00pm and Wednesday, January 22, 2025, 3:30pm – 5:00pm)
Sessions:
Students may register for: a) the in-person course, b) the online course or c) both courses.
Next in-person session (offered every November)
Sunday/Monday, November 10/11, 2024 (all day).
Online sessions
Spring 2024 cohort: April 15 - May 19, 2024. Registration deadline: April 6, 2024.
Fall 2024 cohort: Dates TBA (this option partners well with the in-person course).
