WSET Level 4 - D1 Wine Production
An in-depth study of growing environment, viticultural practices, winemaking, maturation, and packaging. Learn how these factors impact the ultimate style, quality, and sale of wine.
*Please Note: Completion of this course and its exam are required for matriculation in the rest of the program.

The Exam:
90-minute, multiple-part, written paper. There is no tasting as part of this exam.

Format:
This course can be completed in 1 of 3 ways:
In-person. Our in-person D1 students join us in our Portland, OR classroom for two full course days. These days are also augmented by live/recorded Zoom exam preparation sessions.
Online. Our online D1 students participate in the WSET Online Classroom. This self-directed, 6-week course is supported by WSET tutors and does not include scheduled lectures or set login times. Learn on your own schedule.
Combo: in-person + online. For students who want the benefit of both learning options, join us for both!
In-person sessions
Offered once per year, every February. Next in-person course days are February 2 and 3, 2025. In-person courses are offered once per year. Registration deadline is January 1, 2025.
Online sessions
Early Summer 2024 cohort: June 3 - July 14, 2024. Registration deadline May 25, 2024.
Late Summer 2024 cohort: August - September 2024 (dates TBA)
Fall 2024 cohort: October - November 2024 (dates TBA)
