WSET Level 4 - D6 Independent Research
Students will be given two possible WSET-specified research topics to choose from (these will change annually). Through research of their chosen topics, they must demonstrate their knowledge – citing relevant source material – while developing a convincing and compelling argument from a unique point of view.
The Assessment:
3,000-word research paper
Submission Deadline: July 30, 2025. Registration deadline July 10.
Submission Deadline: January 30 2026. Registration deadline January 10.
D6 is a culmination unit requiring approximately 50 hours of independent research on a wine-related topic specified by WSET (new topics are released each August). The final research paper requires presentation of detailed research, a bibliography and a student’s own view point.
