With a focus on sparkling wines, this session will explore the art, science, and business of wine. This includes emphasis on viticulture & winemaking process, as well as growing environment, varietal options, winemaking decisions, even industry associations and business decisions – all of which lead to style, level of quality, and pricing. In addition, students will learn to accurately taste and professionally evaluate these principal styles.

Fall 2025 cohort: November 3 - December 7, 2025

Spring 2026 cohort: March 2, 2026 - April 5, 2026.

The Exam:

  • 90-minute paper that combines both open-response theory questions and blind tasting of 3 sparkling wines.

  • Exam dates are set globally by WSET and offered every January and June, from 1:30pm to 3:00pm (typically on Wednesdays).
