Outdoor Wine School: Into the Dirt and Vines
Two day class. Spring 2022
$215 Tuition includes all tasting fees.
Pack your backpack and put on your boots, it’s time for Outdoor Wine School. In this Viticulture-focused session, you’ll join your guide and educator, Jeff D. Peterson, PhD, for an interactive, on-the-ground educational experience. Jeff will walk you through the building of wines from the ground up with explorations of grape varieties, soil, topography and farming techniques. Group size limited to 12 students.
THE SCHEDULE:
Thursday, TBD
In our first day together, we will begin with an introduction to essential topics in viticulture and then put that knowledge into action with field trips to JL Kiff Vineyards and Coeur de Terre.
Friday, TBD
We continue our exploration of the vineyard-based factors that define how wines are created and how they taste with field trips to Remy Wines and Soter Vineyards.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
Students are responsible for their own transportation.
Dress appropriately and come prepared for whatever the weather brings. Closed-toe shoes for hiking through the vineyard are a must and bring a rain jacket, sunscreen, layers, sun hat, as the weather dictates.
About your instructor: Jeff D. Peterson is a former professor in the Wine Studies Program at Linfield University. Through his project Vinum Docet (Latin for wine educates) his mission is to share his love of wine in ways that go beyond conventional technical tastings, helping people explore the many ways in which wine can be experienced.
