This 3-session introductory wine course covers the basics of wine from a simple perspective: you will learn about wine by tasting wine. By the end of this course, you will be well armed to go into any wine store or restaurant and confidently select a style that you want.
How this works: Join into this class from the comfort of your home using Zoom (instructions for accessing the class via Zoom will be sent prior to class). Wine pick up will be at The Wine & Spirit Archive, 3319 SE 50th Ave. Pull your car into the driveway to pick up from our outdoor register or text us to receive your wine curbside.

Session 1: Big Seven Varieties
The Fundamentals of Tasting
This class covers the basics of analyzing, tasting and discussing wines through a comparison and tasting of the "big seven varieties." Learn the techniques that wine professionals use to distinguish these varieties from one another and how to identify differences in color, body, aroma, acidity, sweetness and tannin.
Session 2: Aromas and Flavors
Expanding Your Wine Vocabulary
In this class, you will expand your wine tasting techniques and vocabulary and further your ability to discuss and identify different wines. Using side-by-side comparisons, learn to identify qualities and aromas such as butter, oak, floral, grassy and minerality.
Session 3: Tasting Terroir
Completing the Picture
In this class, you will learn how to identify a wine's place of origin including differences between Old World and New World wines, cool climate and warm climate and wines and concluding with a quality tasting.
