Start the New Year with this bubbling cocktail and you might just drink it all year long. Should you have the misfortune of running out of gin before the night is done, Cognac makes a great — and traditional — stand-in.
- 1/2 tsp simple syrup
- 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz gin
- 4 oz Champagne
- Lemon twist
Combine simple syrup, lemon juice, and gin in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake until cold and strain into a chilled Champagne flute. Top with approximately 4 oz of chilled Champagne or sparkling wine and garnish with lemon twist.
