No previous wine knowledge is required for the Intermediate Certificate. It is the ideal starting level for those with little knowledge of wine, or those who have a serious interest in wine and/or knowledge regarding particular types of wine, but who lack a breadth of knowledge of all the world's wines.
Course tuition includes 15 hours of instruction, course textbook, study guide, exam review materials, additional handouts, and tasting of approximately 42 wines/spirits. In the final session, students take a one-hour, 50-question, multiple-choice examination. Successful candidates are awarded the WSET Intermediate Certificate in Wine and Spirits.
This course enables students to interpret wine and spirits labels, explain the fundamentals of wine tasting, become familiar with the world's major wine regions and their principal wines, and give advice on wine selection and service.
